My 2027 Ramp — a public journal. The Climb starts October 26, 2026.

My 2027 Ramp Starts October 26. You Can Watch Every Day of It.

Let me plant a flag.

On Monday, October 26, my 2027 Ramp begins. And this time, I’m not journaling it privately and telling you about it in a book two years later. I’m journaling it right here, in public, as it happens, starting with daily entries this Monday, October 5.

And I’m starting with a number I’m not proud of.

This morning the scale said 180.2 pounds.

That number is inflated, and I know exactly why. Fall kicks in, football starts, and the weather here in PA turns cold and rainy. I don’t get out to play golf on the weekends. I end up spending the weekend inside, and I don’t eat my best. That was this past weekend.

I’m posting it anyway, on purpose. Part of why this blog kicks off October 1 is that I want you to see how a weigh-in after a bad eating stretch can drive momentum.

Here’s how. This weekend I lock in and head to North Myrtle Beach. I finish my 2026 Ramp with Ultimate Portion Fix Plan A Carb Cycling. And I don’t weigh myself again until October 26. On the 26th I weigh and measure, full set, Slimpal scale and Slimpal tape. That’s when you’ll see how far the inflated October 1 number dropped. That drop is the motivation I carry into the Ramp.

Now the other honest part, because this whole page runs on honesty: last summer, I fell off my Ramp. Bad eating stretches. A beach vacation I had no intention of being on track for. A journal that went quiet for months. The full story is in my book. I left it in on purpose, and you need to know it going in, because it’s the reason this blog exists.

Here’s the thing, though. In August, my mind was dwelling on the falls. Then I sat down to reflect, the way every Ramp is supposed to wind down, and my mind redirected to the wins. Eighteen years of building Ramps put a floor under that summer. The guardrails caught the bad stretches before they could compound. My handicap went from 14.5 into the 12’s by the end of my 2026 Ramp. I started that Ramp at 185 pounds, and I’m on pace to start my 2027 Ramp under 170.

On pace? We’ll find out on October 26, live, whether the Build hits it.

That’s stacking Ramps on top of Ramps. Each one starts higher than the last, even the ones with falls in them.

The mission for 2027 is already written in my journal, and now it’s written here where you can hold me to it: make the bad eating periods less bad, and get one summer where I stay locked in.

Here’s what happens next:

  • Monday, October 5: daily entries begin. Right now I’m in the Build, landing my 2026 Ramp and finishing strong instead of coasting. You’ll watch the last three weeks of one Ramp set the table for the next. Real numbers or no post. What I’m running, where I am in it, one win or one wobble, and why it matters. No scale until the 26th.
  • Monday, October 26: Ramp Day 1. The Climb starts, with 10 Rounds. I weigh and measure that morning, then weigh in weekly through the holidays.

Why October and not January? Momentum. A Ramp gives you a running start into the hardest part of the year, so you hit January 1 already moving. Waiting for New Year’s puts a parking brake on that you have to work to release before you can even get rolling. October beats January. Every year.

One more thing, quietly: the system behind all of this is in my book, The Ramp, which is out on Amazon now. The link’s in the footer if you want the map before you watch me walk it. This post isn’t about the book, though. It’s about what happens when a real person runs the system in public, falls included. The Ramp includes my falls. So will this blog.

Now, your part.

You don’t have to just watch. The same calendar handing me a running start is handing you one. And your Ramp doesn’t need to match mine. The shape of the Ramp never changes, but the length and position of the phases flex to fit your seasons.

So here’s the only ask I have today:

Comment your 2027 start date below.

Pick it. Write it where people can see it. Mine is October 26. If yours is October 26 too, we’re climbing side by side. If it’s November 3 or December 1, that works. A start date you commit to beats a perfect date you’re still thinking about.

Daily entries start Monday. See you in the comments.
