The First Day That Went Exactly as Planned

Three entries into this, the honest reports have mostly been about what didn’t happen — the salad, twice. Today I get to write the other kind of entry. Yesterday was the first foundational day with everything stocked in the condo, and it went exactly as planned.

While making my eggs in the morning, I made some hard-boiled eggs too, so I have food ready to take on the go if the weekend turns out nice enough for golf. I don’t think it will — there’s a hurricane coming up the Gulf. But if a window opens, the eggs are ready.

Today is a carb cycling day, and with everything stocked, it’ll be smooth sailing. That’s what the grocery run actually bought: a day where the plan runs itself.

This morning was the cardio circuit — day four of #mbf in the condo gym. Thursday’s cardio circuit is always tough: double the mountain climbers from Tuesday. I pushed through, and in today’s AMRAP — as many rounds as possible — I beat the rounds I did the last time through #mbf. Same workout, more rounds. That’s progress you can count without ever stepping on a scale.

One more honest note, because a few of you are reading these now. Three entries are public, and the question I asked myself today: is writing this out loud changing anything I do during the day? The honest answer — it’s changed one thing: my motivation to keep writing. I write for myself. But sometimes the process of writing to get my thoughts down and keep me on track feels tedious, even when I know it’s important. Writing in public removes that feeling. Because I’m not just doing it for me anymore. I’m doing it for others.

Day four is in the books.
