Day 1 of the 2027 Ramp: a tape measure, a shake, and a paperback copy of The Ramp by Chad Walker

Eight Pounds Lighter

The moment my alarm went off, I almost jumped out of bed. It was like my conscious was excited and it was real immediately.

I weighed 177 this morning, right where I thought. I was 174 on Sunday morning and because of that intentionally ate differently Sunday to allow celebration for the Ramp transition. And because of how strong the mirror has been telling me I am, I’m not surprised the muscle is keeping the scale a little higher.

The tape came out too. I’m keeping those numbers off the blog. My waist was bigger than I wanted but also somewhat expected because of how nutrition slacked over the summer. But it’s also focusing me on that goal and the guardrails I installed for this Ramp.

10 Rounds, workout one, with 1’s and 2’s. This workout is much easier and a regression from #mbf but that’s by design. The previous Ramp finished hard intentionally. The next Ramp starts easy, intentionally. I’m not trying to achieve my goals in the first 6 weeks. I’m trying to build momentum for the launch into winter.

And I do this iteration left handed. It helps balance my body, and the awkwardness of using my off hand slows me down even on the cardio. But it’s still a great workout and exactly what I need to kick off this Ramp.

Last Ramp focused on maintaining consistency all year on the workouts and getting strong, which it did. This year the focus is on nutrition and golf to slim down the fat and finally get to a single digit handicap.

Remember, you’re building momentum. It’s only day 1. You’re not achieving results today or even next month. You’re building momentum to build consistency to compound over time for the results to show up a year from now. My weight fluctuated all year long but this Ramp is still starting 8 pounds lighter than last year. That’s the whole point.

Day one is in the books.
